Program Overview

You need to have earned a bachelor's degree to be enrolled in this program. You will earn your Wisconsin teacher license to be certified in elementary education. We develop caring, skilled, and reflective teachers that will be servant leaders in public, private, and parochial schools.

Our relevant curriculum prepares you to work with diverse student populations and gives you the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all learners. In addition, classroom observation and student teaching will develop your abilities to effectively lead a classroom.

Students who desire licensure in another state must contact their state department of education for details about whether or not this coursework will meet state requirements. Students from outside of Wisconsin may earn the Master’s degree without teacher licensing.

You’ll learn the challenges that face educators today, including school law, legal rights and teacher responsibilities, while examining relationships with parents and community. You will focus on the teacher as a role model, both in and out of the classroom. All the while, you’ll build your portfolio and demonstrate growth and competency in teaching standards. Of course, you’ll be expected to complete your student-teaching requirements, and in doing so you’ll gain invaluable field experience inside the classroom. And through it all, you’ll leave this program a more capable and confident educator, ready to shape the young lives of your students.
